Many children attempt to draw lines and shapes before entering preschool, and kindergartners are now
being asked to write their name with capital and lowercase letters.  All children need guidance when
they are ready to write so that letters are formed correctly, grasp on the crayon is appropriate,
and mistakes are corrected immediately before they turn into bad habits.

Often handwriting is not taught at school.  Parents need to learn easy terminology and helpful hints
that will guide their children's writing at home so that writing is easy and fun.  By helping children learn to
write correctly from the start, many future problems can and will be avoided.  By using the
Handwriting Without Tears
program, parents will learn the techniques that occupational therapists
in school systems and private practices use to fix problematic handwriting at any age.

Write Before School, LLC was designed to include the parent and the child in the learning process.
Individual and group sessions are available depending on the needs and age of the child.  Individual Tutoring is available for $30 per half hour session.  I also provide in-services to teachers and educators who are interested in learning occupational therapy techniques for strengthening children's hands, teaching the proper grip, and forming letters correctly using the Handwriting Without Tears program.  Teachers and educations can earn 30 clock hours that meets the state of Maryland continuing education requirements.

During the interactive Parent & Child class, together you and your child will have fun learning techniques to help make writing easy and enjoyable.  The highly acclaimed Handwriting Without Tears program is used along with shaving cream, clay, songs, and other mediums to help your child learn how to form letters correctly and help you learn ways to foster at-home writing.  Emphasis will also be placed on Kindergarten readiness skills that include right/left discrimination, self awareness, problem solving, and social skills.  For Parent & Child groups,
please see Schedule and Registration Form on green title bar above.
